On Friday April 18th, I went to go see the new controversial documentary by Ben Stein called "Expelled- No Intelligence Allowed." Ben Stein in this documentary "takes on" and challenges the theory of evolution and the infamous Charles Darwin's "Orgin of Species." I was rather impressed with his research and his wanting to uncover "what" or "whom" created the universe. He gave both creationist (belief that God created the world) and evolutionist (belief that the world evolved on its own through molecules and crystals) the opportunity to plead their case and defend their belief. He also set out to uncover as to why many scientists, PhD professors, and medical doctors were being "black listed" and fired from their jobs due to their belief and/or inclusiveness that intelligent design is possible. All in all, I really enjoyed this documentary. Now, you may wonder as to why I would give a movie review for a blog. Here's why; I believe it is of the utmost importance that we as Christians go beyond the statement "because the Bible says so," to truly knowing why we believe what we believe. It not only challenged me personally, but also confirmed the "apologetics/polemics arena" of ministry that the Lord is placing me in. I don't know if Ben Stein is a born again Christian (I do know he is a Jew), but I do commend him for his standing up for the truth. Thus in conclusion, I give the movie 2 thumbs up!

just saw Expelled; i appreciate the fact that Ben Stein's goal in making this flick (i gather) was not to win any popularity contests (this by itself helps to validate his message)... his goal was to promote free thought, especially more thinking about motivations that drive American academia and a lot of other behind-the-scenes worldview that we tend to take for granted.
