Living a Little Boys Dream

Ever since I was a young "buck" my sport of preference had always been football. I played 2nd base in Little League baseball as well as right forward in indoor soccer. I also was on the wrestling team my freshman year in high school, but didn't continue either sport. Football was my sport! There is nothing like Friday night lights in Texas. The cool air coming in from the north, the band playing your school fight song, the cheerleaders yelling out how good their team is and then from the sidelines, looking in the stands and seeing all the people that came to see your team win. Man I love football! After my senior year in high school, that was pretty much it as for football. I did attempt to play one year of college ball, but my call to ministry at that time was stronger than my love for the sport. I pretty much thought that football and Sammy Lopez was over and done with. Except for playing Madden on Play Station. However, in 2006, the Lord gave me another shot at the sport I love. The Bible tells us that if we delight ourselves in the sight of the Lord, that He will give us the desires of our hearts. Well, that desire was given, and in December of last year I tried out for the Arena Football League's the Austin Wranglers. I was also invited to tryout for the Texas Rattlers and the Corpus Christi Sharks. However, I never pursued any other team but the Wranglers. I didn't make the squad but became a free agent in the AFL. With all that said, I am going to make one last shot at Arena Football, as there will be a free agent tryout for none other than the Dallas Desperados. The Desperados are an organization of the Dallas Cowboys. The tryouts will be on the 20th of this month at none other than the world famous "hole in the roof" Texas Stadium. You don't have to be a Cowboy fan to know how much history was made in that stadium. Besides, the way the Cowboys are playing now, history may be back in the making. Again, I am living a little boys dream. It is almost freakish to think that I will be playing football on one of the most famous football stadiums in the NFL and trying out for the Desperados which also has a "star" on the side of their helmets. If I make it great, If I don't than great! I'm just honored by the fact that the Lord still gives us the desires as well as the strength of our hearts. Please be in prayer for me as I make a prayerful decision in going to this free agent workout. Yet through it all, To God Be The Glory!
