With all the Twittering, Facebooking and MySpacing, I have completely been lax on blogging. Well I had to make sure I blog this one. It's funny how time passes by and God's plans seem to come to a "head". Just a month ago I was talking up the idea of doing "church" out of a movie theatre. We were going to launch our first service out of the AMC 30 Movie Theatre here in Houston,TX. As we began to pray and seek the direction of the Lord, other opportunities began to arise. However, there was one location that struck us between the eyes! Out of all place in the Houston area to meet, the Lord opens up the opportunity to meet in a place that we would have least expected. Who in their right minds would want to meet where pizza, kids, families, video games, go-carts, miniature golf, and laser tag exist? Who would want to be distracted by a 50's theme, open buffet, large theatre screens and hundreds of families going in and out of a facility that looks like Chuck E. Cheese on steroids?! Well, it had to be a crazy church, with crazy ideas, and a desire to reach people where they were at. This is why this coming Sunday August 2, the Fellowship Church of Houston will be conducting services at the Incredible Pizza off of Fairmont Pkwy in Pasadena, TX!
Imagine the possibilities! Imagine the people we will come in contact with! Imagine the family outreaches! Imagine the buffet! And by buffet, I'm not talking about pizza, salad bar and dessert. I'm talking about all races, all walks of life, all ages, all backgrounds, all in one place! The craziness is not that we are going to try this, the craziness is if we don't do it! This was placed on our lap by the Lord Himself. John Piper said it best when he states, "David to Solomon: Build it and they will come. Jesus to Us: I have built it, go to them!" Isn't that the way it should be? Is ministry done better while you listen to a sermon from the balcony? Or is ministry as effective while going to where people eat and adding the "Bread of Life" to their spaghetti? I am excited for this ultimate opportunity. If you are around the Houston area and would like to come see the possibilities of Incredible outreach, I would love to see you at Incredible Pizza this Sunday morning at 9am. For directions, please click here for the Fellowship Church of Houston website and other information that will be added throughout the week. Please keep us in prayer as we venture out to reach the masses!
